Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern spoke to the German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper and said: “Turkey has to take steps to get closer to Europe”.

Christian Kern stressed that the EU does not depend on Turkey economically, on the contrary, Turkey depends on the EU, and said: “Turkey is mostly dependent on Europe and the West. Similarly, on the matter of the refugees, contrary to what some people say, we are less dependent on Turkey. Most of the direct investments in Turkey are made from the West. In light of this information, we can imagine what the developments in Turkey would be if the West withdraws.”
