Austrian delegation in Suruç: We stand by Kobanê and the Kurds

A delegation of Austrian deputies has arrived in Suruç district of Urfa Tuesday in solidarity with the Kurdish people and the displaced citizens of Kobanê in face of the ongoing attacks by ISIS gangs on the besieged town of West Kurdistan, Rojava.

The delegation, made up of Austrian ambassador to Ankara, Kurt Radner, the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) leader Andres Schieder, Green Party MP Berivan Aslan, People's Party MP Elizabeth Pfurtscheller and Kurdology Specialist Niki Kuntrath, pays the visit to the border town to voice solidarity with the Kurdish people facing attacks by inhumane ISIS gangs.

Welcomed by DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) and DTK (Democratic Society Congress) deputies and executives including Feleknas Uca, İbrahim Ayhan and Faysal Sarıyıldız, the delegation firstly visited the DBP Suruç office where they met Kobanê People's Assembly Co-President Ayşe Efendî and canton administrators.

The delegation vowed to provide assistance to the civilians in Kobanê and those forced to migrate to the North Kurdistan side of the border.

Following another visit to Suruç Municipality, the delegation has gone to the border villages where resistance vigil in solidarity with the Kobanê resistance is going on. The Austrian politicians will later pay a visit to the Kobanê citizens housed in tent cities in the Suruç district.
