The diplomatic tour of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Europe continues. The European representatives of the Autonomous Administration held a series of diplomatic contacts in Catalonia.
The delegation was composed of the Autonomous Administration Europe representative Abdulkerîm Omer, Local Administrations and Environment Board co-chair Cîhad Omer, Autonomous Administration Scandinavia representative Şiyar Elî. This visit was held on the anniversary of the Catalonian Parliament's recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
The delegation met with Miquel Royo, Foreign Relations Officer of the Catalonian government, Alba Verger, Ruben Wagensberg, Carls Riera and Aurora Maduela from the Catalonian Parliament. The delegation thanked the government, parliament and people of Catalonia for recognizing the Autonomous Administration politically.
Abdulkerîm Omer, European Representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, told ANHA that "the Catalonian parliament once again demanded from the government and institutions in all Catalonia to improve their relations with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. We evaluated the political, economic, humanitarian and security issues in North and East Syria, as well as the Turkish state's attacks, racist projects and the demographic change in the region, with the parliamentary and foreign relations officer."
Omer said: “The Catalan authorities told us that they are ready to develop the relationship with North and East Syria and that bilateral visits should be made in order to put the parliamentary decisions into practice. On the other hand, the leading role of women in the Autonomous Administration was underlined.
On 21 October 2021, the Catalonian parliament recognized the political status of the Autonomous Administration, saying: "We recognize the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria politically and we call on the institutions of Catalonia to establish institutional relations with this administration."
There are 4 main articles in the decision of the Catalonian parliament to recognize the Autonomous Administration:
"1- Political recognition of the Autonomous Administration.
2- Establishing economic relations with the Autonomous Administration and recognizing the political system as a democratic confederation.
3-Supporting the reconstruction works of the Autonomous Administration, providing assistance to the immigrants and refugees in the camps of the Autonomous Administration.
4-The Catalonian government should immediately implement the articles."
