Aydar: Ceasefire should be bilateral
Speaking at the conference “The international role in the solution of the Kurdish question” organized by Kurds Friendship Group and non-governmental organizations at the Swiss Parliament, Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council member Zübeyir Aydar pointed out that there is a need for a non-conflict environment to ensure that the ongoing process of talks progresses in a positive way.
“A bilateral ceasefire must be called as soon as possible”, Aydar underlined and noted that both Turkish and Kurdish sides must be very careful about the statements they make and the language they use, and should avoid attitudes that may negatively affect the ongoing process. Aydar remarked that a Parliamentary Peace Council should be established to enable further progress to the search for a solution to the Kurdish question.
Aydar also noted that the government should end operations against Kurdish politicians as part of the building of a new environment.
Aydar said the Kurdish side sees the current process as the continuation of the earlier Oslo talks and not as a new initiative. The road map and protocols that the Kurdish side put forward in the earlier process are still valid, he added.
