The Green Left Party opened its election office in Mersin. Green Left Party co-spokesperson İbrahim Akın and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Saliha Aydeniz as well as hundreds of people attended the opening ceremony.
Akın said that the AKP-MHP regime will not be able to repress the will of the people and added that “on 14 May a new life will begin in this country. Together we will build a new democratic republic. Our first task will be to overthrow this tyrannical AKP-MHP government from power. Then we will start a new century."
Aydeniz: This government will lose'
DBP co-chair Saliha Aydeniz said: "We are welcoming a historic election. 2023 is the century of the republic and 2023 is the century of the Treaty of Lausanne. They wanted to break up the Kurdish people in Lausanne, they wanted to eliminate their language, culture and land. But wherever they went, the Kurdish people preserved their culture, language and existence. Today we are in Mersin. Mersin became a small Kurdistan. Why is this election important? Because this election is a choice between the forces of fascism and democracy. Some want to make fascism permanent. But our people will build democracy for a free future. Fascism wants to segregate the Kurdish people with its policies of isolation, trustees and war. But we will build democracy against war, isolation, and the massacres of women. We will send this government out on 14 May."
Drawing attention to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Aydeniz said: "Today, if Turkey is in a crisis, this is also because of the refusal to solve the Kurdish problem. Once again we repeat that to solve the Kurdish problem we need to open the gates of İmralı. We will increase our struggle everywhere until the gates of Imralı are opened. We know, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is the address for democracy, freedom and the solution to the Kurdish problem."
