BDP and DTK condemn operation against KESK

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) has released a written statement to condemn the operation which targeted members of the Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) in 29 cities early Tuesday.

BDP said that “These systematical attacks are disappointing for the hopes of peace and democratization in a period of dialogue on the Kurdish question. The solution of the Kurdish question is related with Turkey's democratization which however cannot be achieved by raiding unions, detaining people and remanding them in custody for months and trying them on the basis of forced accusations”.

BDP called for the urgent release of dozens of people detained in the operation against KESK today.
DTK also released a written statement in which it commented today's operation as an attack on democracy and the freedom of organization.

DTK called for the release of detainees and called on all revolutionary and democratic establishments to enhance struggle against the repression.

In the meantime, the number of people who have been taken into custody in today's operation rose to 130. The number of detainees is expected to increase.
