Eight buildings of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) have been subjected to racist attacks in the last three days since the huge blast in Antep which killed nine people and injured around 70 others on 20 August. Attacks caused great financial damage in the buildings of the BDP which is constantly associated to the armed Kurdish movement by nationalist circles.
Racist attacks since the Antep incident have targeted the BDP buildings in Karþýyaka district of Ýzmir, Nizip and Araban districts of Antep, as well as the BDP office at city center, Bahçelievler district of Istanbul, and BDP provincial buildings in Çanakkale and Kocaeli.
People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement to ANF on 21 August that it has nothing to do with the explosions in Antep.
In the statement the HPG said that "we have declared a non action period over the end of Ramadan days. We have observed this decision and therefore we reject claims by Turkish media that the explosion in Antep was caused by our guerrillas. We had nothing to do with the blast in Antep, we do not carry out actions which will put civilians life at risk".
The HPG had declared they would avoid clashes during the end of Ramadan and would only carry out self-defense actions.
