BDP continuing talks in South Kurdistan

The BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) has had further meetings in the city of Sulaymaniyah in South Kurdistan, having been invited by Mollah Bakhtiyar of the PUK political bureau.

The delegation consisting of BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, Kars MP Mülkiye Birtane, Van MP Nazmi Gür and BDP Hewler representative Cemal Coşkun, attended a meeting with Hero Talabani, the wife of Jalal Talabani, and YNK political bureau member Mollah Bakhtiyar, after which they went to Halabja, the symbol of the tragedy of the Kurdish people's recent history, where they were met by the town's PUK representative, Jamil Hawrami. The BDP delegation went to the Halabja monument and the Halabja memorial cemetery, leaving flowers at the monument to the fallen. The delegation then returned to Sulaymaniyah and held more meetings in the evening. They first met Ala Talabani and Halit Shiwani Kirkuki, from the Iraqi Parliament, at the High Crest hotel. The delegation then met with PÇDK members Vahap Abdullah and Muhammed Abdullah, after which they held a meeting with Ebubekir Ali and Ebubekir Alaadin of the Kurdistan Islamic Union.

Following these meetings Selahattin Demirtaş answered questions from the media. Demirtaş assessed the latest corruption case in Turkey, saying this was the biggest corruption and bribery operation in Turkish history. Demirtaş continued: "What is important for us at this moment is that serious incidents of theft have been revealed. Those responsible must be called to account. It is unacceptable in a country like Turkey where millions are hungry for bureaucrats and the sons of cabinet ministers to steal millions of dollars. This will turn the political equilibrium in Turkey upside down. Turkey needs an alternative, clean politics. This is a movement that will develop under the leadership of the BDP and HDP."

The delegation is expected to go to Kandil today to meet KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) officials.
