BDP delegation delays the visit to İmralı
Speaking to ETHA news agency on Sunday, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) parliamentary group deputy chair Pervin Buldan said that the Ministry of Justice has yet not answered their demand to pay a visit to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan jailed in Imralı prison.
Buldan said it was yet not clear when the delegation will pay the next visit to the Kurdish leader.
BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and Buldan last paid a visit to the Öcalan on 7 June. Buldan said in a statement to Nuçe TV after the visit that during the meeting Öcalan called attention to the importance of his holding regular meetings with the BDP delegation on regular terms, once in 15 days.
Following a visit to Öcalan on 12 June, his brother Mehmet Öcalan said that the Kurdish leader believed his lawyers and family, as well as the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) delegation must perform regular visits to İmralı if the ongoing process is meant to progress healthfully. "The lack of these requirements will mean failure of the process", the Kurdish leader said.
