A delegation of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) will go to Bingöl on Friday to join a demonstration against a court's recent decision in favour of Turkish soldiers who raped a minor on regular basis for the last two years. The delegation includes BDP co-chair Gültan Kışanak, Amed deputy Nursel Aydoğan, Batman deputy Ayla Akat and Amed provincial chair Zübeyde Zümrüt.
Thousands are expected to take to the streets in Bingöl tomorrow to protest the recent release of four specialist sergeants who were involved in the regular rape of a sixteen year-old girl for two years. The number of suspects has in the meantime risen to eight, said the public prosecutor of Bingöl in a written statement on the case.
The minor in the district of Solhan applied to the public prosecutor of Bingöl early May and filed a criminal complaint against six specialist sergeants who have allegedly raped her many times since she was kidnapped by one of them two years ago. Four among them were arrested one month ago upon the criminal complaint and have been released pending trial two days ago after their release demand was approved by a higher court in Bingöl.
The court ruled confidentiality on the file of the case. Investigation into eight suspects is going on.
