Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) district chairman Faysal Babat was taken into custody in the town of Þenoba (Sêgirkê) in Uludere (Þýrnak) on Wednesday.
A number of houses in the town were raided early in the morning as many people were sought by police, according to initial reports received. The reason for Babat’s detention hasn’t been disclosed yet.
On the other hand, 20 people were taken into custody in Diyarbakýr on Tuesday as police severely attacked people protesting against the government’s silence on the hunger strike going on in Turkey prisons since 12 September. Clashes between police and demonstrators lasted till late hours in the evening.
