People of Iraq mourn the victims of Wednesday’s artillery attack by the Turkish army which claimed the lives of 9 people and left 23 others injured.
Bodies of 9 Arab civilians who were killed in a Turkish shelling at a picnic site in the Perex village in Zakho province yesterday, have been taken to the capital Baghdad.
Following a forensic medicine examination in the Kurdistan region, the bodies of the victims were first taken to Erbil Airport, from where they were transferred to Baghdad Airport.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi was among those present at the airport to receive the bodies before a final farewell.
In the meantime, people continue their protests across the country after the deadly attack, calling for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from their lands.
The victims of the Turkish attack, all of whom were Arab tourists from the central and western parts of Iraq, have been identified as:
1- Zehra Xeyri Mihemed, 1 year old, from Baghdad
2- Sara Qeys Eli, 12 years old, from Baghdad
3- Zehra Qeys Eli, 16 years old, from Baghdad
4- Eli Sebah İsmail, 43 years old, from Baghdad
5- Secad Mihemed Casim, 24 years old, from Baghdad
6- Ebas Ela Ebdul Ehmed, 30 years old, from Baghdad
7- Hesen Ebdulemir, 55 years old, from Karbela
8- Teha Ebdulrehman Nemet, 25 years old, from Baghdad
9- Ebas Mihemed Cewad, from Karbela
