The bodies of the guerrillas Dilara Ürper and Emel Feremez Hisên who fell during an action of self-sacrifice against a police station in Mersin have been kept in the morgue of Adana Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) for 16 days.
YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) guerrillas Dilara Ürper (Sara Tolhildan) and Emel Feremez Hisên (Rûken Zelal), who carried out an action against the police station in the Tece neighbourhood of the Mezitli district in Mersin on September 26. While both guerrillas fell as martyrs during the action of self-sacrifice, their bodies have been kept in the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in the neighboring Adana province since.
In a written statement on September 29, the People's Defence Forces (HPG) claimed responsibility for the action which -it said- was carried out “in response to the repression in the prisons, the massacres and the use of chemical weapons against the guerrillas”.
Ürper's family applied to the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in order to receive the body of their daughter. While the prosecutor requested blood samples from family members for DNA testing, the Ürper family returned without receiving the body.
