Former co-chair of HDP Diyadin organisation Cezmi Budak lost his life as soldiers attacked the civilians in the area of a military operation in Ağrı yesterday.
Turkish soldiers opened fire on human shields who went to the area of clashes between HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas and Turkish army in Ağrı province of North Kurdistan yesterday. Former co-chair of HDP Diyadin organisation Cezmi Budak lost his life and MEYA-DER representative Cenap İlboğa was wounded as a result of the attack. One guerrilla is also reported to have died in the clash.
The body of Budak was first taken to Diyadin State Hospital's morgue and held there for hours as the prosecutor didn't come to the hospital for a post-mortem examination, allegedly for security reasons.
While Budak's family attempted to take his body home as the prosecutor didn't arrive the hospital, the people around convinced them to keep it in the hospital morgue for some more time.
Budak's body is now being taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution in Erzurum on the grounds of 'lack of security' at Ağrı State Hospital.
People chanted "Şehîd namirin" [Martyrs are immortal] slogan as his body was taken out of the hospital.
