British trade unions grow campaign for Ocalan

In the British Trade Unions Congress Conference, participants called for freedom for Ocalan and saluted the hunger strikers.

The Freedom for Ocalan campaign run by British trade unions continues to grow with new participants.

The British Trades Union Congress (TUC), with trade unions with over 6 million members, held its annual congress in Northern Devon with attendance from delegates from unions in the South West region.

Calls were made during the conference for solidarity with the Freedom for Ocalan campaign and the hunger strikes.

“THE CAMPAIGN GROWS EVERY DAY”

Campaign Director Matt Nathan spoke in the conference and said the campaign they launched for Ocalan’s freedom became the most talked about and supported campaign by British trade unions in a short time, and added that there are new participants to the campaign ran by 14 nation-wide unions every day.

The conference pointed out that Kurdish activists and politicians are on hunger strikes in London, Newport (Wales), various European countries and prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan. There was great interest in Ocalan’s books and other reading material on his ideology in English.

British Kurdish Popular Assembly Co-chairs Ercan Akbal and Besime Basar called on all democratic individuals and organizations to show solidarity with the Kurdish People’s Leader.
