Buldan: BDP apply to visit Öcalan

A BDP delegation has apply today to the Minister of Justice in order to get permission to visit Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in prison.

BDP parliamentary group president, Pervin Buldan has said she expect the visit to be granted at the weekend.

Buldan reminded that in the last meeting they had with Öcalan, he indicated the need for a new format of the process in order for it to progress. The format will have to address three main issues: changes in the anti terror legislation, creation of a number of commissions to deal with specific issues related to democratic politics, from Constitution to women rights, from social issues to civil rights, and the establishment of a monitoring commission. This will have a function of arbitrator between the parties during negotiation and can possibly intervene when problems occur in the negotiations.

The BDP delegation last met Öcalan on 15 September.
