Buldan: Resolution process too important to sacrifice to elections

HDP İmralı delegation member Pervin Buldan has visited the tent of condolence for the HPG guerrilla Serhat Kızılay ( Canfeda Serhat) who lost his life in the clashes during the Tendürek provocation in Ağrı province on 11 April.

HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) İmralı delegation member and the HDP group deputy chairwoman Pervin Buldan has visited the tent of condolence for the HPG (People's Defence Forces) guerrilla Serhat Kızılay ( Canfeda Serhat) who lost his life in the clashes during the Tendürek provocation in Ağrı province on 11 April. Speaking here, Buldan said that the resolution process was too important to sacrifice to the upcoming general elections on June 7.

Visits to the tent of condolence set up for the HPG guerilla Serhat Kızılay (Canfeda Serhat) who lost his life in the clash during the Tendürek provocation continue in Karaağaç neighborhood of Iğdır province of Nord Kurdistan.

The tent of condolence has been visited by hundreds of people including the member of the İmralı Delegation and the HDP İstanbul's 3rd region parliamentary candidate Pervin Buldan, DBP and the HDP provincial co-chairs, the municipality co-mayors, provincial and municipal council members.

Pervin Buldan has spoken in the tent of condolence where posters of the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the HPG guerilla Serhat Kızılay were hanged, offering her condolence to Kızılay family and drawing attention to the provocation which has taken place despite the ceasefire in effect for two years.

Buldan stressed that the Kurdish leader Öcalan had initiated the resolution process to make sure that no one lost his life, and that the Kurdish movement had greatly done their bid, saying, “Mr Öcalan has made efforts to not to collapse in the face of all kinds of provocations and dirty games. However, our friends have lost their lives as a result of Turkish soldiers' attack on the guerillas after laying an ambush during the sapling planting event on the occasion of Mr Öcalan's birthday in Ağrı.”

Buldan recalled that they had gone to the area where the provocation had taken place and had talks with the witnesses, pointing out that the soldiers had been sent to the scene on the purpose of provocation. "The report was prepared in line with the information provided by eye witnesses and opinion leaders there. If you will not recognize this report, who will you listen to instead? If we are doing our best to ensure that mothers do not cry, you also must take these into account", she said, addressing to the government officials.

If not with this people, who will you make peace with?, Buldan asked, adding that; "This process has been taking place between Kurds and Turks. It was initiated to deal with the troubles of all peoples and to make sure that people could live with their mother tongues, cultures and identities. However, the fact that you are not taking any steps serving the process will mean paving the way for provocations.”

Buldan remarked that the resolution process was too important to sacrifice to the elections, stressing that; "The Kurdish movement does not need to ask for votes from Kurdish people by means of pressure as Kurds already have the 70 percent of the votes in Ağrı. We are not asking for any votes through pressure. Everybody votes for our party to their heart's content and trust in it." Buldan said that in the face of the rise of the HDP, the government was however involved in such provocations and dirty games to harm the election process and decrease the votes of the HDP.

Underlining that being a deputy was by no means more important than the life of Kızılkaya, Buldan said; "Canfeda sacrificed his life for the culture, identity and language of the Kurdish people, not to help us become deputies. We attach a greater importance to the resolution process than to elections. Not wanting to face any kind of interruption in the resolution process, we want that all political mechanisms, a monitoring board being in the first place, come into play and the process make the healthiest progress possible. We want the attainment of peace and tranquility in this country. However, similar provocations will take place unless the government takes steps serving this purpose."

Buldan stressed that all officials of the government, the Governor in the first place, were under suspicion for the provocation, and called attention to the urgency of an investigation into the incident to bring those responsible out into the open. Urging the government to make the necessary statement on the matter and to take the necessary steps with responsibility, Buldan added that; "Thousands of youths of ours are in the mountains. We hope Canfeda will be the last one to die there."
