Call for May Day in Amed: Take to the streets against war

Union representatives who took to the streets in Amed (Diyarbakir) called on the public to protest the war during the upcoming May Day celebrations.
Union representatives, who came together outside the Diyarbakir office of the Education and Science Workers' Union (Egitim Sen), issued a call for the rally to be held at the İstasyon Square of the city on Sunday, May 1st. A press statement was made before the distribution of leaflets in the Ofis neighbourhood of Yenişehir district for the rally to be held under the motto "We will change together". Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputies and many citizens participated in the event, as well as representatives of unions.
“As the Organizing Committee, we are in favour of freedom, labour and people. We would like to meet all our friends in favour of labour, justice, peace and democracy at the İstasyon square,” Amed Branch Chair of the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions (DİSK) and May Day Organization Committee, Kamuran Taş, said in a speech on behalf of the union representatives. After Taş's speech, the crowd started to march and distributed leaflets.
May Day leaflets were distributed to the shopkeepers on the route of the march on Gevran and Ekinciler Avenues. The unionists invited the people of Amed to join the May Day celebration against war.
