Call for participation in actions in Paris on January 3 and 7

Tomorrow, the Kurdish community in France will send off the three martyrs to Kurdistan after a ceremony to be held in the Paris suburb of Villers-le-Belle.

Three Kurdish activists were killed and three others injured in the armed attack on 23 December on the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Centre, a Kurdish restaurant and a Kurdish-run barbershop on Rue d'Enghien in the tenth arrondissement of Paris. The victims of the targeted attack are Evîn Goyî (Emine Kara), a member of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council, YPJ (Women’s Defense Units) veteran in the fight against ISIS and leading representative of the Kurdish women's movement, musician Mîr Perwer (M. Şirin Aydın) and long-time activist Abdurrahman Kızıl.

On 3 January 2023, the Kurdish community in France will send off the bodies of three martyrs to Kurdistan after a ceremony to be held in Paris's suburb of Villers-le-Belle.

The Democratic Kurdish Council in France (CDK-F) made a press statement in front of the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Centre on Monday and called for participation in the farewell ceremony, march and rally to be held in the French capital on January 3 and 7.

The statement read out by CDK-F Co-chairs Xane Akdoğan and Abdullah Ülmez said: “Three of our friends were murdered here in front of Ahmet Kaya Cultural Centre on December 24. All legal proceedings have finished today and tomorrow morning we will take their bodies and send them off to Kurdistan. From here, we appeal to our people and friends living in Paris and its surroundings. We will send off our martyrs to the country after a magnificent ceremony. We invite everyone to attend the memorial and funeral ceremony tomorrow. On the other hand, we will come together in front of the Kurdistan Information Office at 10:00 on January 7, and stage a march and a rally afterwards. We call on our people living in Europe to join the action in a spirit of mobilization to commemorate Sara, Rojbin and Ronahi and to condemn their murderers.”

Abdullah Ülmez said that the pain caused by a new massacre that took place ten years after the triple murder of Kurdish woman politicians was "very great".

Ülmez remarked: “However, the whole public knows that the people of Kurdistan have always been struggling to seek their rights and laws and freedom.”

Ülmez stated that they would organize a major demonstration right after the ceremony on January 3 in front of the Kurdistan Information Office where the triple murder of Kurdish women took place in 2013. He continued: “We consider that day as the day of great resistance. The Kurds will give the necessary answer to the killers and the terrorists on January 7, condemning the two cowardly killings in the middle of Europe. We call on all the Kurds living in Europe and their friends to join this action on Saturday, January 7.”

Ülmez added: “The historical importance of both actions is beyond doubt. We are sure that the Kurdish people will claim their cowardly murdered comrades, friends and martyrs with great responsibility. We in the CDK-F call for mass participation in both actions.”
