Call for support from the refugees in Tabqa Camp

Residents of the camp set up for refugees in northwestern Tabqa are living under harsh conditions. Refugees are expecting support.

Tabqa Civilian Assembly set up a camp for people who migrated to the safe zones from various areas under ISIS and Baath control in Syria.

The camp in northwestern Tabqa is hosting some 25 thousand refugees. The refugees are suffering due to having no other shelter than shepherds’ tents. As the temperatures rise, lack of drinking water creates harsher conditions.

Refugee Fatma Mirai said the following: “We migrated from Homs to the Cabiriyê area to the east of the city, but we had to come here because of the regime forces’ bombings. We thought this place to be safe. We have been here for a week, but we haven’t seen any trace of the international organizations. The water we drink is dirty, and that leads to sickness.”

Mirai said they hold the international aid organizations and the UN responsible for their conditions.

Another refugee named Ebdo Abbas from Meskene said: “International organizations visited the camp and learned of the situation here but they gave us nothing but promises of aid.”

Abbas showed the aid card given to him by international aid organizations and said: “The international organizations gave us these cards and put our names on them. This is the aid we are supposed to use to provide our children with food.”
