Organized by the Rojava Committee, a panel was held in Zurich with the participation of Academic Kerem Schamberger. The event was part of the series of events which started in April in Zurich to mark the 10th anniversary events of the Rojava Revolution.
Schamberger said that the silence of the European states about the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish state was also due to the refugee deals made especially with Turkey (which is using the refugee card to blackmail Europe).
Schamberger will speak at a panel in Bern today and in Basel on Sunday.
Calls to join activities on World Kobanê Day
As part of the activities, marches will be held in Zurich on 1 November and in Basel on 5 November. The main agenda of the marches to be held on the occasion of 1 November, World Kobanê Day, will be the exposure of the Turkish state's chemical and poisonous gas attacks in Kurdistan. The Rojava Committee called for strong participation in these marches.
Call from CDK-S and YJK-S
A call was made by the Swiss Democratic Kurdish Council (CDK-S) and the Swiss Kurdish Women's Union (YJK-S) for a march to be held on Tuesday, 1 November at Werdmühleplatz in Zurich. The call said: “Kobanê was liberated from the barbaric ISIS mercenaries in 2014 thanks to the resistance of thousands of Kurdish fighters and international solidarity. The coexistence of peoples in the region continued until 2017, when Rojava and other parts of Syria were liberated by defeating ISIS. In 2018 and 2019, ISIS supporter, the fascist Erdogan regime, occupied some regions in Rojava. Turkey's attacks continue uninterruptedly today. Now is the time to save Rojava from Turkish occupation! Now is the time to put an end to Turkey's war crimes! Let's express our solidarity with the people of Rojava struggling together and take to the streets on 1 November, World Kobanê Day!”
