Ceremonies for Sakine Cansız and Leyla Şaylemez
Condolences were received in the German capital Berlin for Sakine Cansız, a co-founder of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), who was one of the three Kurdish politicians killed in Paris on 9 January together with Fidan Doğan, representative of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) in Paris and Leyla Şaylemez, member of the Kurdish youth movement. The condolence visits to the Cansız's family at Dersim Community lounge lasted three days from Friday to Sunday. Representatives of Berlin Democratic Kurdish People's Council also attended the ceremony in Germany.
In the speeches made here, people called on the French state to shed light on the killings of three Kurdish women.
One other ceremony was held for another victim of Paris killings, Leyla Şaylemez, whose family held an islamic memorial ceremony in the German city of Halle on Sunday.
The religious ceremony at the Mesopotamia Kurdish Cultural Center in Halle was joined by a number of Kurds from all across Germany, including YEK-KOM representative Abdullah Efe and Mele Esref from Kurdistan Islamic Movement.
In the speeches made here, it was pointed out that the Kurdish people will continue to keep the memories of their martyrs alive.
