Children's Kurdish Festival in Switzerland

A colourful Mihricana Zarokan (Children's Festival) was organised in Winterthur, Switzerland.
The festival, organized by the Winterthur Democratic Kurdish Communicty Centre (CDK), uderlined the importance of education in the mother tongue for chilldren and organized various activities of Kurdish culture and art.
In the speech made on behalf of the organizing committee of the festival it was remarked that "the aim of these activities is to be a response to the attacks on our mother tongue. We are organising courses and promote activities for children to develop their skills."
The festival organisation committee added: "The fact that our regular weekly courses are colorful and rich in terms of lessons transforms our work into a school atmosphere, while at the same time, it is also possible for Kurdish families and their friends living in Winterthur to get together and socialize."
The committee, which draws attention to the fact that the courses are held with a specific plan and curriculum with around 30 students, continued: "We are aware of the fact that we cannot respond sufficiently to the attacks on our language and culture with a few hours a week, but at least we aim at providing a ground for children's languages, cultures and countries in the short term. We think it is important and essential. ”
