CHP former MP Eren Erdem jailed

CHP former MP Eren Erdem has been jailed after his detention and appearance at court earlier today.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) former MP Eren Erdem has been taken into custody earlier today. He was then referred to Istanbul 35th Heavy Penal Court which ruled his imprisonment following a trial.

Eren Erdem was facing a lawsuit because of his works for the Karşı daily where he served as executive editor. 9,5 to 22 years in prison is sought for Erdem for allegedly “aiding and abetting an armed terrorist organization despite non-involvement in its hierarchical structure”, “unveiling a secret witness” and “violating the confidentiality of the investigation”.
