Republican People’s Party (CHP) has presented a motion to the Speaker’s Office for the establishment of an Investigation Commission to enlighten unidentified murders.
The motion presented by CHP MP Ali Rýza Öztürk said; “Turkey's has almost become a cemetery of unsolved political murders that have never been shed light on by the government.”
Özturk made a written statement about the motion presented to the Speakership of Parliament. Telling that there are a large number of unsolved murders that dropped due to prescription, including the murder of writer Sabahattin Ali in 1948 and the murder of Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DISK) former President Kemal Türkler in 1980, Öztürk said; “In the current situation, the government needs to give up to sit back and watch the unidentified political murders and start to investigate these events with a new mindset. Today, there is a need for Turkey's offering an insight into the dark sides in its history and enlightenment of the dark parts. The source of the light to enlighten the dark sides is without question the TGNA which is the representative of the national will. Elaborately finding the answers of the questions about unsolved murders is the historical task of the democratic state of law.”
Öztürk pointed out that bring all unsolved political murders to the table will contribute to the development of democracy and added; “The commission, which will be able to gather all files and documents in a hand, address questions to the authorities of that time and develop a holistic approach to the subject, could also prompt the truth of political murders in the late history most of which are still unidentified and waiting to be clarified.”
On a related development, Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Thursday launched an investigation into the recently published voice recording that allegedly revealed secret talks between representatives of the Turkish government and the PKK.
