Hundreds of people have marched to the operation area near the village of Cemê Elik (Birlik) on Diyarbakır-Bingöl border where the Turkish military has launched a new operation early Thursday morning.
Turkish soldiers opened fire into the air and threw tear gas on the group to prevent them from entering the operation area. The people however are waiting in the area, saying they will not leave until the operation is ended.
Speaking there, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Lice district chair Harun Erkuş said that; “We are around 500 people here now and many other people are now on the way to here. A woman demonstrator has been slightly wounded on the arm by the tear gas soldiers threw on us. We will not leave here unless the operation is ended and the military leaves the operation area. We do not want to witness any more deaths, neither guerrillas nor soldiers, and we don't want to carry coffins any more”.
