The co-presidency of the Cizîr (Jazireh) Canton of Rojava has issued a written statement to mark May Day, wishing 1 May to mark a stepping up of the struggle to build a democratic society based on mutual recognition of peoples and success for all those who take part in this struggle. The statement called on all workers to unite in order to defend their rights in a democratic society.
The Cizîr Canton co-presidency stressed that May Day is a day of struggle for all the workers of the world and a means of gaining their rights, adding that many have fallen in this struggle while contributing to revolutions against political powers and the enemies of humanity.
The statement also recalled the foundation of the PKK within a long and arduous struggle, adding that Abdullah Öcalan and his comrades started the people’s revolution by shedding light on the struggle for freedom.
The statement stressed that the Rojava Revolution of 19 July has united all workers and democratic forces against the attacks of dark powers, regional powers and the interventions of nation states.
