Four people were taken into custody in Urfa following the police intervention during the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) organization's press release on the 9 October conspiracy against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Tension broke out during the press release as police seized a banner reading “Freedom for Öcalan, status for Kurdistan”. Four detainees, including BDP Urfa provincial co-chair Mehmet Çiçek and BDP Bozova district chair Abdurrahman Piþkin, were taken to Urfa Police Headquarters.
Clashes broke out in Diyarbakýr as police attacked the people joining the protest demo against the 9 October conspiracy. Demonstrators responded to police with molotov cocktails and blast bombs. Clashes are reported to be continuing.
