F Type Film, a new film shedding light on F type prisons and the 19 December massacre, Back to Life operation, was premiered at Atlas Cinema in Istanbul on Wednesday. The film which was led by political music band Grup Yorum was directed by nine directors.
Speaking after the premiere, Ýnan Altýn on behalf of Ýdil Production said that the film was aimed at displaying the F Type prison reality to the public opinion.
Ezel Akay, one of the directors of the film, expressed his pleasure for taking part in the greatest collective film production in his life, while another director Reis Çelik voiced his hopes for shooting enjoyable films as well.
Director and BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) deputy Sýrrý Süreyya Önder said the followings on the film; "I believe we have for the first time fulfilled our duty for the comrades we have lost in the struggle for revolution and socialism for which I have been fighting my entire lifetime. We have taken part in a collective work which is of great importance in memory of the people we have lost."
Another director Hüseyin Karabey remarked that the 19 December massacre and F Type prisons have subjected people to a great trauma which, he underlined, is still living in memories. "This society is not a nonpolitical one, it is just being subjected to unending efforts trying to make it a nonpolitical one. As we see, even a sparkle can be enough to awaken the spirit in people." Reminding of the recent hunger strike by Kurdish political prisoners, Karabey added that "We would be talking about new deaths now if that strike had happened to continue. In other words, the matter of prisons still continues."
Following the speeches by directors, TAYAD (Association of Solidarity With the Families of Prisoners) families presented directors gifts sent by political prisoners.
The last speech at the premier was made by Ahmet Kulaksýz, father of Canan and Zehra who lost their lives in death fast against F type prisons in 2000, who said that; "The intellectuals and artists of this country will be holding their head high as long as the prison resistance continues as a tradition."
