Conference in Berlin on peace and democracy in Turkey

Different ethnic groups and artists, academics and politicians from Turkey will organize a conference in Berlin. The conference on 21 and 22 September, was presented at a press conference.

Politicians, artists and academics are coming together in Berlin for a free and democratic Turkey. They are organising a conference to be held on 21 and 22 September. 

The conference was announced on Sunday at the Werkstatt der Kulturen and director and writer Mustafa Altıoklar read the press release.

"Come, from now on we will talk about the Turkey we want to live in together", is the call made by the organisers of the conference who are inviting everyone to join the two-days meeting to talk about social peace, equal, fair and free country.

“We are not willing to watch our country from far away as people who were forced to live in exile at some point in their lives but did not lose hope about the land we were born and the society we once lived in", said the statement.

The statement stated that differences cannot be seen as a problem but on the contrary they should be viewed as the richness they are.

"We need to come together, discuss and build our tomorrow. - added the statement - We call on all people who want to build a new future for Turkey, who dream, who want to contribute to peace, who are against war, aganst male violence, homophobia, transphobia and gender violence, to get together and act together."

The statement ended with a call to "get together to build social peace, a new Constitution which is the basis for human rights, pro-parliamentary democracy, recognizing local autonomy, based on the understanding of social state, for the people and the animal and all other living being to be in harmony with nature."
