The Constitutional Court rejected the application of HDP parliamentarians for the cancellation of the lifting of their immunities. By rejecting the applications of HDP and some CHP parliamentarians, the court enabled the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities.

HDP parliamentarian Meral Danış Beştaş condemned the decision of the Constitutional Court and said that the court acted upon the instructions of Erdoğan and the AKP government. Beştaş noted that they would continue applying to the Constitutional Court, and soon finalize their application to the European Court of Human Rights.

'ERDOĞAN AND THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE INTERVENED'

Beştaş described the Constitutional Court’s decision as lawlessness and unfairness, and emphasized that President Erdoğan and the Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ intervened in the legal process with their scandalous statements over the past week. Beştaş criticized the court for acting upon the instructions of Erdoğan and the AKP government, and said that the decision defied the constitution and international agreements.

'WE SPEEDED UP OUR PREPARATIONS FOR TWO APPLICATIONS'

HDP parliamentarian Beştaş stated that they would continue their democratic and political resistance in courts and would apply both to the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights. Beştaş noted that they speeded up their preparations for these two applications, and emphasized that the HDP would eventually win this legal battle.
