Council of Europe delegation visits former BDP mayor in prison

A delegation from the Local and Regional Administration Congress of the Council of Europe, based in Strasbourg, has visited former Viranşehir Mayor Leyla Güven in Amed E Type Prison.

According to a statement issued by the Local and Regional Administration Congress of the Council of Europe, Leyla Güven was visited by Council of Europe members Anders Knape, from Sweden, Leen Verbeek, from the Netherlands, Gaye Doğanoğlu, the President of the Turkish delegation at the Congress, and Congress Secretary Jean-Philippe Bozouls. The delegation will submit a report regarding the visit to the Congress on 10 February 2014. The Congress has been following the case of Leyla Güven and attending court hearings since she was arrested in 2010 during the KCK operations.
