Countdown for ISIS in Syria and Iraq
Kurds and the Iraqi army have started to advance on ISIS gangs on all fronts in Iraq and Syria. The gangs who are switching into defense position on all fronts now are continuing to suffer heavy losses.
Stopped from making further advance in Kobanê thanks to the resistance put up by YPG/YPJ forces, ISIS gangs are being struck more and more blows in both Syria and Iraq now. Coalition airstrikes too are forcing the gangs into a corner as they have also lost more cities of importance, such as Beci and Zumar with oil facilities, in Iraq recently.
After losing the Jurf Al Shakar town to the southwest of Baghdad last week, ISIS gangs have this week lost the Beci city which houses the greatest oil facility in the country. As the Iraqi army is reported to be continuing to advance on ISIS gangs on many fronts, it is being said the cities of Tikrit and Muktadiye are the next target of the military forces.
HPG and peshmerga forces in South Kurdistan are in the meantime forcing ISIS gangs to retreat while HPG guerrillas in Sinjar have also mounted an attack against the siege around Mount Sinjar, repulsing the gangs from many areas.
In the further north, peshmerga forces have taken the strategically important Zumar town, and the Ayn Salih oil basin has also been taken under control by the Kurdish forces that are continuing their attacks on ISIS positions from this area toward the south.
In and around Kirkuk, HPG guerrillas and peshmerga forces are launching frequent attacks along the line formed against ISIS gangs that are reported to have switched into defense position in the mentioned region.
The ISIS which got bogged down in Kobanê town of Rojava, West Kurdistan, have also suffered heavy losses in clashes with YPG forces in west Serekaniyê. During the week, YPG have liberated five villages and many hamlets from ISIS gangs, and killed many members of theirs.
The ISIS members who have recently attacked the Tiyas town and natural gas basin were all killed. ISIS faced a heavy defeat while making a splash over capturing this region.
On the other hand, coalition forces have carried out more than 150 attacks against ISIS during the month. Iraqi airforces have also launched bombardments around Beci, Kirkuk, Mosul and Fallujah.
