The Covid-19 Regional Crisis Coordination has provided it weekly information on the trend of the pandemic.
In today's written statement the Coordination said that the governments want to write a success story by stressing that the number of cases and deaths is falling. However, it added, this succes belongs especially to the healthcare providers.
The statement underlined that "in Turkey the fight against coronavirus goes beyond the format of combating the epidemic and was actually used to bring about a special form of government."
The Coordination said: "People in Turkey should know very well that in the provinces of the region, there are by now neither mayors elected by the people, nor bureaucrats appointed by the state. All powers have been given to the trustees appointed by the AKP. The trustee has turned into a device to resurrect the AKP in the region."
The statement also underlined that "the insufficient number of tests, the failure to share data and the fact that no regional civil society organisation has been included in the provincial pandemic boards prevent a clear idea of the course of the situation in the region. In order for the current process to be managed in a healthy way, it is necessary to include the Regional Chamber of Physicians and the health unions in it and and to take into consideratiorn their suggestions."
The Coordination issued the following call: "Our people, who have been struggling with poverty for years, have been forced to risk their lives to pursue their bread during the epidemic period or to get the aid that the government gives away.
First of all, we invite all our people, who have experienced and survived thousands of difficulties, to stand on their own feet in all circumstances and to be in solidarity with each other. It is our spirit of solidarity that will save us. Solidarity is what can keep us alive.
For this reason, we call on all our people to be in solidarity during Ramadan without waiting for someone else to help. Those who have the opportunity should show solidarity to those who don't."
