The Iraqi parliament has confirmed the removal of the customs checkpoints between the Kurdistan Autonomous Region and Iraq.
At Wednesday’s session of the Iraqi Parliament it was decided to remove the customs checkpoints between Sulaymaniyah-Kirkuk, Erbil-Kirkuk and Duhok-Mosul.
The mentioned customs checkpoints had been established on 22 September following an agreement between the Iraqi government and the Kurdish regional government.
The practice drew reactions from various circles and a group of Iraqi parliamentarians consequently brought the issue to the agenda of the parliament.
