Danish intellectuals and politicians appeal to Kurdish parties to end tension in South Kurdistan
A call was sent to the KDP and KCK leadership by many figures in Denmark, including the former Foreign Minister. The letter called on parties to end the tension in South Kurdistan and invited them to solve any conflict through dialogue.
The letter emphasized that a conflict between Kurds would only serve the Kurdish enemies.
The letter said: “As friends of the Kurds in Denmark we are following the ongoing conflict that is currently taking place in South Kurdistan with great concern.
With this letter we urge the leaders of the above mentioned Kurdish parties to take responsibility in finding a dialogue-based solution between the Kurdish parties involved.
With our signature we strongly urge the Kurdish leaders to cooperate and not fight each other for the benefit of all Kurds throughout the region.
We would like to draw attention to the fact that any conflict that takes place among Kurds weakens our work for Kurds and Kurdistan here in Denmark. We cannot explain to the Danish public and population why the Kurds fight each other rather than stand together against any attack on Kurds. President Erdogan is using every opportunity to create conflict and disagreement among Kurds to prevent them from achieving unity, independence and autonomy in the region.”
The letter was signed by Eva Flyvholm, Deputy of the Danish Parliament Red-Green Alliance Party, Villy Søvndal, former Foreign Minister and former MP of the Socialist People's Party, Uffe Elbæk, Member of the Danish Parliament, Deputy of the Independent Green Party, Rasmus Nordqvist, Member of Parliament Socialist People's Party of Denmark, Jonas Eika, Danish author, Nordic Council Literary Award winner 2019, Line Barfoed: Former Member of Parliament Red-Green Alliance Party of Denmark, Villo Sigurdsson, Former President of the Socialist People's Party, Copenhagen Municipality, Pernille Frahm, Former Member of the European Parliament Socialist, People's Party, Jesper Brandt, MSc, Professor Emeritus, Department of Science and Environment, Roskilde University, Christian Juhl, Deputy of the Danish Parliament Red-Green Alliance Party.
