Danish politicians call on Kurdish leaders to promote unity

Danish politicians wrote an open letter to Kurdish political forces calling for clashes in South Kurdistan to end.

Danish politicians called on the leading names of the Kurdish people, such as Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) co-chairs Cemil Bayık and Besê Hozat, Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) co-chair Ahmet Karamuş, Gorran leader Ömer Seyid Ali, South Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Massoud Barzani, and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) executive Qubad Talabani, to take responsibility and develop a dialogue for a solution.

Emphasizing that the conflicts and contradictions between the Kurds actually only serve the enemies of the Kurds, the Danish politicians said: "As Kurdistan's friends living in Denmark, we watch the conflict going on in the territories of South Kurdistan with concern. With this letter we want to call on you for the development of a dialogue among the different Kurdish parties. We believe that the Kurdish parties should be in solidarity, not in conflict with each other, for the good of all the Kurds living in the region."

The letter added: "The contradictions between the Kurds weaken our work for the Kurdish people in Denmark. We cannot explain to the Danish public and society why Kurds clash among themselves. Attacks against the Kurdish people are increasing. As it is known, Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan uses every mean to create division among Kurds. He does not want the Kurds to be united, independent and autonomous in the region."

The letter continued: "The conflicts between Kurds only serve the enemies of the Kurdish people. This will lead to more massacres of Kurds. We hope that the leaders of the Kurdish people will listen to our call and take them seriously and find solutions to prevent further conflicts."

The letter was signed by the following politicians:

* Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, Social Democratic Party former Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs and former President of the UN General Assembly.

* Mr. Holger K. Nielsen, Socialist People's Party of Denmark former Social Minister

* Michael Aastrup Jensen, Danish Parliament Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs

* Rasmus Nordqvist, member of the Danish Foreign Affairs committee

* Mr. Soeren Soendergaard, Danish politician
