David Minoves, president of the Catalan civil society organization CIEMEN, said that Abdullah Öcalan is a global leader and called for his freedom.
Speaking to Erem Kansoy for Medya Haber TV, David Minoves drew attention to the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and stated that the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is important for a democratic and lasting peace in the region.
Stating that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is not only a leader of the Kurdish people but also a global leader, Minoves said that the Turkish state and Western powers have violated Abdullah Öcalan's rights for 25 years.
"Öcalan's inability to see his family and lawyers and the ongoing absolute isolation is an unlawful and inhumane disregard of universal human rights," Minoves said, adding that the Turkish state's practice of isolation is an expression of anti-peace policies.
Remarking that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's ideas can bring different cultures and societies together on the plane of democracy, Minoves said: "Democratic confederalism is the system that enables humanity to return to its essence and live equally. For example, the Kurds have achieved this in Northern and Eastern Syria and Rojava. In these regions, you can see that the experience of democratic confederalism is working perfectly. Öcalan's ideas for peaceful, equal and free coexistence are the most realistic and feasible ideas."
