DBP Co-chair: We are going through a strategic period

DBP Co-chair Bayındır said that the Kurdish people are going through a strategic period and political activities should be carried out accordingly, "It is important to create a political and social atmosphere in which Öcalan can play his role."

Interviewed by ANF, the Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Keskin Bayındır, pointed out that the Kurdish people were subjected to two separate conspiracies at different times: “The first was the division of the Kurds into four parts with the support of international forces during the establishment of the republic. The Kurdish struggle was subjected to an international conspiracy as the Kurdish population was divided into four parts by four nation states in the Middle East. The second conspiracy emerged when Öcalan was handed over to Turkey in 1999.”

AKP SUSTAINS ISOLATION

Bayındır remarked that Abdullah Öcalan is the leader of a national democratic struggle of millions of people in four parts of Kurdistan. “Millions of people considered Öcalan as their leader. The first conspiracy failed following the freedom struggle introduced and led by Öcalan. The second international conspiracy targeting the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people in the person of Öcalan is currently sustained by the AKP government. When we understand why different dynamics are so silent and indifferent to the aggravation of Öcalan’s isolation as a torture system, which has become an absolute regime, it is possible to see the ideological approach behind it very clearly.

COMMITMENT TO ÖCALAN PERSISTS

Bayındır pointed out "the reality of a struggle that strives for the freedom of Öcalan against the government's ambition to sustain this torture system and complete the Kurdish genocide with the support of international forces." He continued, “Öcalan's strategic and leading role is still significant for the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. The Kurdish people have never refrained from expressing their commitment to Öcalan and the fact that he is the main actor in a solution to the Kurdish question."

THE TURKISH STATE UPDATES ITSELF

“We are also fighting the isolation policy. We continue our struggle to comprehend the meaning and scope of the Imrali torture and isolation system and to eliminate it. This year denotes a very important year for us. We are entering a period when the ideological mindset of the Turkish state and its denial policies update themselves for a second century with a new ideology and perspective. We know that Turkey's denial and genocidal mentality seeks to subject the Kurds to further persecution. We know that Turkey has restructured itself to disband and eliminate the organized struggle. We are aware that it has rebuilt all its institutions accordingly and that its policy of organizing attacks is long-established.

A STRATEGIC PERIOD

Bayındır emphasized that the Kurds had a history of common struggle against this century-old denial mentality together with the revolutionary forces of Turkey. “We are going through a period when we must approach all our activities strategically. This year is a strategic and decisive year for the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people and the future of the revolutionary forces of Turkey’s democracy. In this sense, our struggle is very strategic to ensure that Öcalan comes into play, that the isolation imposed on him be lifted, that he play his role and regain his leadership in an actual way. We are going through a very strategic period in terms of the future of the peoples,” he said.

ÖCALAN HAS A STRATEGIC ROLE

The DBP Co-chair concluded, “We must fight with such determination in consideration of the historical reality. I believe that a political and social atmosphere will be created in which Öcalan's strategic role will be revealed and he will play his historical role to resolve the Kurdish question, and the Imrali torture system. If we can bring together the leading forces of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, the Kurdish democratic political movement and the Kurdish people's leading freedom struggle, as well as the leading forces of democracy and revolutionary struggle in Turkey, I believe that we will achieve results very soon.”
