DBP member critically wounded in soldiers' attack at Kobanê border
Turkish troops have once again attacked the people participating the resistance vigil going on in the villages of Mehser, Henêrk and Boydê at Suruç-Kobanê border in solidarity with the Kobanê resistance against ISIS gangs.
People joining the vigil in three villages, which have been taken over by new groups coming from Van, Erzurum and Siirt, were brutally attacked by Turkish troops using intense tear gas and armored vehicles late yesterday evening and night.
DBP (Party of Democratic Regions, formerly BDP) Central Executive Board Member Semra Demir who sustained a critical injury after being hit on the head with a tear gas canister during the crackdown in Mehser village is reported to be remaining in a critical and life-threatening situation. After being rushed to Suruç State Hospital, Demir was referred to the Mehmet Akif İnan Hospital in Urfa, where she is being held in neurology department, reported to have had a cerebral hemorrhage.
In the meantime, it came out that Semra Demir who was seriously wounded in the attack by soldiers had been stopped by special operation teams in Suruç yesterday noon, and was accused of organizing the vigil protest at the border. It is also reported that Demir was deliberately targeted while being hit on the head with a tear gas at close range.
