DBP strongly condemns attack on HDP executive
The Party of Democratic Regions (DBP) has released a written statement condemning the attack on HDP party assembly member Ahmet Karataş early Tuesday morning.
DBP strongly condemned the attack on the HDP executive Karataş, and recalled that the HDP co-President Selahattin Demirtaş was verbally abused in a plane a few days ago, pointing out that the two incidents are not isolated. “The fascist circles want today to slaughter HDP executives and members using the methods of ISIS”, said the DBP.
“What is happening is the putting into practice by gangs of venomous verbal assaults by the AKP government and the President in recent days. This attack is for us the consequence of the insults of the president, prime minister and ministers targeting the HDP. This is why it is an attack organised by the state mentality regardless of who the individual attacker is”, said the DBP.
The DBP stressed that they as a democratic society will continue to resist under any conditions and at any cost against fascism and its gangs, and will not remain silent but raise their voices in the face of these kinds of attacks. The Party called on the AKP and the gangs launching these attacks to give up their assaults, saying; "otherwise we will need to remind them that they will be the ones suffering the attacks that they provoke”.
DBP wished a speedy recovery to HDP Party Assembly member Ahmet Karataş, who has been seriously injured in this attack, and extended best wishes to the People’s Democratic Party and its members.
