The building of the Suruç branch of the Party of Democratic Regions (DBP) has been surrounded by police since this morning. The co-chair of the DBP, Kamuran Yüksek, was not allowed to enter the building by the police.

According to information obtained, the co-chair of the DBP, Kamuran Yüksek, was stopped by the police while he was entering the street where the building is located in a vehicle belonging to the party.

The police surrounded the party building and the neighbourhood with armoured vehicles and TOMAs (special armoured vehicles to intervene in social events, as police call them) and told Yüksek to go to the party building on foot.

Following Yüksek being prevented from reaching the party building, a large group of people, including HDP deputy Ibrahim Binici, went to the street blockaded by the police.

While discussions between the police and Yüksek continue, the people arriving at the street are protesting the police by shouting slogans. Tension continues in the town.
