DBP (Party of Democratic Regions, formerly BDP) Young Women's Assembly has announced foundation following a meeting in the main Kurdish city Amed.

In a written statement announcing foundation, DBP Young Women's Assembly said they attributed the Assembly to Arîn Mîrkan who sacrificed her life in the Kobanê resistance whilst fighting against the male-dominant mindset.

The statement said the foundation of the Assembly will be declared at a conference to take place in the Amara village of Urfa province on 27-28 December. It also pointed out that with the Assembly will be the first step young women will take to actualise a democratic paradigm for women's liberation.

"Arîn Mîrkan is our guiding spirit”, the DBP women said, also stressing that Kader Ortakaya who was recently murdered by the male-dominant mindset will be kept alive in their freedom struggle.
