Delegation from Shengal meets with German parliamentarians in Berlin

A delegation from Shengal met with MPs and women's organisations in the German capital Berlin.

A delegation from the Yazidi town of Shengal (Sinjar) in northern Iraq met with Janine Wiesler, co-chair of the Left Party (Die Linke), Dirk Ulrich Mende from the Social Democratic Party (SPD), Reneta Alt, chair of the Human Rights Commission of the Berlin Parliament, Reneta Alt from the FDP party, Fehat Koçak, Left Party member of the Berlin Parliament, spokesperson of the Women's Organisation Deutscher Frauenring and Damigra, an umbrella organisation of women's migrant organisations.

The latest situation in Shengal, threats of attacks and deportations of Yazidi refugees and the situation of the Yazidi community in Germany were discussed. 

The delegation also met with the Berlin Yazidi House Coordination, the Binevş Edessa Assembly and students from the Humbold University of Berlin. Nujiyan Günay, spokesperson of the Umbrella of Yazidi Women's Assemblies (SMJÊ), also participated in the meetings.
