A delegation of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), consisting of Co-Deputy Chairperson for Foreign Affairs Ebru Günay, Co-Deputy Chairperson for Democratic Local Governments, Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki, and European Representative Eyyüp Doru is visiting Rome on 18-20 June to hold a series of diplomatic meetings.
The delegation met with representatives of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament. The delegation met with Italian parliamentarians, including Laura Boldrini, President of the Human Rights Committee, and exchanged views on Italy-Turkey relations, regional developments and areas of cooperation.
The delegation met with the representatives of the Green-Left Alliance Party headed by Deputy Group President Marco Grimaldi at the Italian Parliament and then met with the executives of the 5-Star Movement, one of the parties with a group in the Italian Parliament. After the parliamentary visit, the delegation held a meeting with the leadership of the main opposition Democratic Party at the party headquarters.
The delegation also met separately with the leaders of the Communist Refoundation Party of Italy, Potere al Popolo and the Union of Italian Municipalities.
The DEM Party delegation will complete its Rome programme today after talks with Italian civil society organisations.
