Former HDP MP Demirel: We are going on a hunger strike

Imprisoned former HDP MP Caglar Demirel announced that she and a 15 person group are going on a hunger strike.

The imprisoned former HDP MP Caglar Demirel announced that she and a group of 15 politicians are going on a hunger strike to protest the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

“GUVEN’S DEMANDS ARE THE DEMANDS OF MILLIONS”

Demirel, held hostage in the Kocaeli High Security Prison Type F, issued the following message through her lawyers:

“Me and a group of 15 politicians are taking over the 10-day hunger strike starting today, to support HDP Hakkari MP and DTK Co-chair Leyla Guven in her hunger strike of 31 days as of today. Leyla Guven’s demands are the demands of millions. The isolation must end at once and steps must be taken for democracy and peace. We are at a historic threshold. We are calling on all forces of democracy to raise democratic struggle against the crime against humanity at hand, and become Leyla’s each.”
