Demirtaþ: We support Öcalan’s call -UPDATE

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ said that BDP supported Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s call to prisoners to end the hunger strike in the soonest time without any hesitation.

Demirtaþ remarked that they hoped prisoners would consider this call, noting that deputies will not end their hunger strike unless prisoners end theirs.

BDP co-chair said they hoped Öcalan’s meeting with his brother would pave the way for new chances on the way to a peaceful solution in the political area.

BDP co-chair Gültan Kýþanak and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Aysel Tuðluk have also released a joint statement on Öcalan’s call and asked all prisoners on hunger strike to take this call into consideration.

Kýþanak and Tuðluk pointed out that the government should also evaluate this call and step well and added; “This call should conduce toward a step to be taken for fair and legitimate demands highlighted”.

Following a visit to prisoners on hunger strike in Diyarbakýr E Type Closed Prison on Saturday evening, BDP deputies Aysel Tuðluk and Sabahat Tuncel said that the prisoners here will make a statement tomorrow after considering Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s call to end the strike in the soonest time.
