The Kurdish youth movement TCŞ (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger) took to the streets across Europe on Saturday to demand the lifting of Abdullah Öcalan's isolation and his release and to draw attention to the hunger strike of political prisoners in Turkey. In Germany, high-profile actions took place in Münster, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Dortmund, Nuremberg and Hamburg, among other cities. A demonstration was also held in Berlin.
Activists from the Council of Free People from Kurdistan, DEST-DAN Women's Council, TEKO-JIN, ATIF, Zora, Young Struggle and other anti-fascist groups took part in the demonstration, which began at Hermannplatz Square in the afternoon.
In a speech of the Kurdish youth movement the massive criminalization of young people in Turkey was denounced. Young Struggle addressed the repression against Kurds in Europe.
Former HDP deputy Sibel Yiğitalp said in a speech that the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is applied to the entire Kurdish people. The exiled politician pointed to European policies to "repel refugees" and trade relations with Turkey.
The demonstration ended at Kottbusser Tor with a musical contribution by Caner Yilmaz.
