Demo in Paris in solidarity with the prison hunger strike

A march and a rally was held in Paris, France in order to draw attention to the hunger strikes in Turkish prisons.

Kurds and representatives of revolutionary and democratic institutions in Turkey participated in the march that was organised on the call of Kurdish Women's Movement in France and France Democratic Kurdish Council (CDK-F).

 

Protestors carried signs that read "Long live prison resistance" and chanted slogans "Murderer Erdoğan" and "Long Live Leader Apo" during the march that began in front of the Gar de l'Est at 17:00 Saturday. Protestors distributed pamphlets providing information about the ongoing hunger strikes in Turkish prisons. Following the march, a rally was held at the République Square.

Speaking here, Zozan Serhat, a member of the Kurdish Women's Movement in France, emphasized the urgency of the situation of prisoners on hunger strike in Turkey and said "They are risking their lives and going on hunger strike in order to end the aggravated isolation of Leader Öcalan. From now on, we should take action and be the voice of the comrades resisting in prison, otherwise tomorrow may be too late."

Lastly, Serhat called for participation in the tent protest that will begin in front of the French Parliament at 10:00 on April 10 and continue until April 14.
