Kurds are taking to the streets to make their voices heard by the world and to state clearly that they do not agree with the Treaty of Lausanne signed 100 years ago.
Kurdish and Australian activists staged a demonstration at Sydney’s Town Hall Square on Sunday in protest at the Treaty of Lausanne which divided Kurdistan into four parts and formed the basis for genocidal attacks against the Kurds in the last century.
A speech by the organizing committee denounced the genocidal mentality of the Lausanne Treaty and saluted the resistance of the Kurdish people.
The demonstration was also attended by NSW MP Jamie Parker, Senator Lee Rhiannon, church minister Bill Crews, Rojava Solidarity Sydney spokesperson Peter Boyle and Kurdish journalist and writer Mansour Rezaki.
“In response to this treaty, women and children and the people are resisting, be it in Rojava, Imrali and the mountains,” said the statement.
Speeches criticized the fact that the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) is kept on the European terror list although it was the PKK that finished off ISIS.
